Our exhibition in Rakov (Belarus)

Thanks to the support of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, our exhibition “Colours or Orthodoxy. Poland” is visiting seven European countries. On the 1st of December the exhibition was presented in Rakov (Belarus). The exhibition had been organized by the Parish of Transfiguration.

Charge d’affaires of the Polish embassy in Minsk, Mr. Aleksander Wasilewski participated in the inauguration. In his short speech he said: “Orthodoxy in Poland is part of our religious life (…)The exhibition in its parts presents architecture but also the believers, which, to me, is more important.”

The spiritual meaning of the exhibition was explained by the parish priest, father Sergij Lepin, press secretary of the Minsk diocese: “Photography is a sealed moment from the past preserved for the future. We can say that our life is a set of pictures which we will then present on the Final Judgement Day. So on one side there is Our Lord, Angels and Saints and on the other we with our gallery. God help us so, at least some of our pictures, will present pictures as beautiful as the ones we can see here (at this exhibition).

Rakov boasts a very rich history. Here, 219 years ago, the famous composer Michał K. Ogiński composed his famous polonaise “Farewell to the Fatherland”. During interwar period the town was on the border between Poland and the Soviet Union.
